Sterling Police arrest man in connection with two business burglaries – WQAD

STERLING, Ill. — A Sterling man has been arrested in connection with two business burglaries reported early Saturday morning, according to the Sterling Police Department.
Police said Austin C. McConnell, 32, was arrested Saturday on two counts of burglary (Class 2 felony), theft (Class A misdemeanor), two counts of criminal trespass to property (Class B misdemeanor) and two counts of criminal damage to property (Class A misdemeanor).
Officers responded to two burglary reports at businesses in the 2600 block of East Lincolnway and the 1800 block of East 4th Street in Sterling.
Investigators said they identified McConnell as a suspect and located him in Rock Falls with assistance from the Rock Falls Police Department. He was transported to the Sterling Police Department, processed and released pending a court date.
The Sterling Police Department said it was assisted by the Rock Falls Police Department and the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said no further information will be released. Charges are accusations, and McConnell is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
