SEATTLE — A popular Seattle instrument rental business is looking for answers. After thieves stole dozens of instruments worth tens of thousands of dollars from their warehouse.
“That is just crazy… That is crazy to me,” said David Delozier. “Even on our busiest weeks, there’s still a couple instruments here.”

Delozier is the manager of Studio Instrument Rentals. For over 20 years, it’s been renting out thousands of musical instruments and equipment for countless events in western Washington.

“In my 20 years of moving gear in and out of this place, there’s like two or three pieces missing,” said Delozier. “And it’s missing, that’s not even theft.”

But on Feb. 25, around 3:40 a.m. thieves struck a chord. Breaking into the business’ warehouse, busting open its back door, stealing dozens of instruments and taking off in one of the warehouse’s trucks.

“Shoved all of our electric guitars except two electric basses, ignored all the acoustics, grabbed two base amps, small bit of percussion and then a keyboard,” said Delozier.

He estimates the loss could be up to $100,000. Luckily, he said the warehouse’s truck was found a couple blocks away by authorities.

“They dusted the back door and the vehicle for prints,” said Delozier. “They got prints that weren’t any of ours. So hopefully it’s getting narrowed down now. But no instruments were recovered. Everything is gone.”

But Delozier and his staff are staying positive and are glad everyone is safe.
“I’m grateful that not more was taken,” said Delozier. “Definitely grateful that no one was hurt because if one of my guys was coming back from a late gig, caught them in the act, it could’ve been way worse.”
Delozier said they filed a police report to the King County Sheriff’s Office. He also said the business has insurance on the stolen property.
