Jonathan Gibson is stable, police said
A man was taken to the hospital Friday after Capitol Police say he tried to rob a business on Highway 80.
Officers responded to the Jackson business around 1:18 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers learned 27-year-old Jonathan Gibson, had left the scene after being shot in the abdomen by another individual inside the establishment.
Officers with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety say Gibson has an extensive criminal history and attempted to rob the same location in the past.
Gibson was located shortly after and taken to a nearby hospital. He is currently stable.
Officers say two firearms were recovered at the scene. He will be charged with robbery and aggravated assault.
