LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A $15,000 Cryptocurrency fraud was among the criminal incidents the Lower Makefield Township Police Department reported in its blotter for the past week.
These are the criminal incidents:
Jan. 15
FRAUD —2100 Block of Twining Road at 11 a.m. The complainant reported receiving a phishing email from what appeared to be Comcast. The email directed them to call a number they believed was Comcast. They called and provided access to their phone which resulted in a $500 charge on their Discover card. Discover was notified of the fraud.
Jan. 14
FRAUD —200 Block of South Fieldstone Court at 2:55 p.m. The complainant reported that they were watching a YouTube video, and they were prompted to scan a barcode which resulted in a Cryptocurrency loss of $15,060.
Jan. 13
FRAUD —1600 Block of Devon Court at 4:04 p.m. The complainant reported that several accounts were opened under their name. The current monetary loss sustained is $6,000. The bank is in the process of an investigation.
Jan 12
THEFT —1200 Block of Yardley Road at 12:38 p.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person removed an Amazon package valued at $60.41 from the front of the residence.
Jan. 10
MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT —900 Block of Kathy Drive, at 6:34 p.m. The complainant reported that their Hyundai Elantra was stolen from the residence. The vehicle was later recovered with an undetermined amount of damage.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —500 Block of Cedar Hollow Drive, reported at 7:45 a.m. The complainant reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person attempted to enter their Toyota Corolla damaging the driver’s side door handle. The damage was estimated at $500.
